I loved a good sneaker in high school, but since starting my career, I had been the girl in stilettos every day and would never consider a sneaker for anything except the gym…and definitely not as an addition to dressy or work attire.
I have recently encountered a shift in my position on this once personal faux pas. The current onslaught of sneakers available in gorgeous finishes, luxe materials and unique shapes has caught my eye. I’m now a woman obsessed with this comfy footwear…although I don’t consider them so casual any longer. I’ve been sporting these kicks with track pants, jeans, dresses and skirts alike. We can’t all hope to look as fab a this shoot from Let’s Restycle, but we can try our best!
Here are some I’ve have recently acquired and others I’m still lusting after…even though I have literally run out of places to keep shoes.
First of all, I have to showcase these amazing custom Blank Canvas leather high top converse with the blog name stitched on the side. These were an amazing gift from my friend Sally. They are pretty slick.
I’ve also taken my love of Adidas to my feet and purchased the classic superstar sneaker in black with white stripes. I rocked theses same shell toes in high school. I knew I always had good taste ;). These have been surprisingly easy to pair with almost anything.
A sneaker with an exaggerated toe and loafer details have been taking the place of my brogues lately as a stately office shoe. I have mentioned my love of DKNY before and the Trey pointed toe sneaker. Besides the all white perforated pair I have showcased before, this amazing patent oxblood ombre pair just arrived on my doorstep.
Vince is also a brand I love that has nailed the elevated sneaker look. This basket weave Pierce slip on is what started my love affair with this look.
I really adore a fun heel with embellishments to make a statement in an outfit, but an embellished sneaker is a new thing that can really punch up a casual outfit. They can almost act as the jewelry in a look.
These Tory Burch blossom sneakers are a really great balance of sporty and pretty.
The combo of the pink pearl finish and jewel capped pointed toes on this Miu Miu pair are just as lady appropriate as any demure pump.
An embellishment I never though I would rock in a shoe is a poof, but when I found these Sam Edelman Leya velvet pom pom sneaker I was sold. They are just so charming.
Another way to wear a non-sport sneaker, is to find a pair in an unexpected fabric usually reserved for their dressier counterparts. Lace, tweed, brocade and metallic are common among a heel or dressy flat, but these sneakers ooze luxe charm.
The reversed panel black & white help make the ladylike lace on this Givenchy pair not too sweet.
The kid deep inside me thinks iridescent leather on these Loeffler Randall sneakers is so fanciful. These are party-perfect!
How delightful are these Gucci brocade sneaks with the ladybug!!
I’m super jazzed that while the trend holds out, my feet will be less pained while still being oh so fancy. Get your sneaker game strong!
