When I heard there was a giant light up shell in downtown SD, you know I had to plan something. I rejoice anytime I get word of new public art. I think there should be a sculpture or mural on every corner. This sculpture is called Growing Home and is particularly meaningful to me because the cutout words tell the story of the City of San Diego, from which I am native. The fact that it glows at night and projects those words all around the area is really special. This sculpture aims to represent our ever growing and changing city while nodding to our inherited beachy ways. Although I’ve traveled many paces, I’ve never lived anywhere else besides San Diego. The city is part of the fabric of my being and I love to see it represented so magically.
