Art Alive 2026 transformed The San Diego Museum of Art into an immersive celebration of flowers, art, and creativity during the Museum’s Centennial year. Inspired by the vibrant spirit of late 19th-century Paris and the Museum’s Centennial exhibition featuring works by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, this year’s event was designed to feel theatrical, transportive, and deeply layered with visual storytelling. Seeing the galleries come alive through nearly 80 floral interpretations alongside works from the Museum’s collection was incredibly rewarding, especially watching guests move through spaces that were intended to feel both elegant and unexpected. From the floral installations to the guest experience details woven throughout the weekend, Art Alive 2026 became a celebration not only of art and flowers, but of the creativity and collaboration that made the entire experience possible. Below are a few details and some favorite moments captured from this year’s events.

Premiere Dinner
The Premiere Dinner was designed as an intimate and immersive opening evening inspired by the romance and theatrical energy of Belle Époque Paris, drawing heavily from the atmosphere of the Moulin Rouge, the cafés and cabarets of Montmartre, and the layered glamour of iconic Parisian destinations like Maxim’s Paris, all reflected through the artistic world of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. I spent months developing the design direction for the evening, wanting the experience to feel transportive from the moment guests entered the space. From the lighting and textures to the floral palette, entertainment, and tablescape details, every element was intentionally layered to create an atmosphere that felt immersive, elegant, and theatrical in the spirit of late 19th century Paris.
Bringing that vision to life took an incredible collaboration of creative partners. PEP Creative helped shape the production environment and many of the large scale visual moments, while layered tabletop details and large scale rentals from BBJ La Tavola, Bright Event Rentals, and Town & Country Event Rentals added richness, texture, and warmth throughout the dining experience. The floral designs by Green Fresh Florals transformed the room into a lush extension of the galleries themselves, while Coast Catering created a culinary experience that felt refined and beautifully aligned with the atmosphere of the evening. Guests were welcomed throughout the night by performances from Twisted Orbit Circus, whose dramatic and immersive performances added movement, spectacle, and a sense of Parisian cabaret energy that brought the entire evening to life.

Bloom Bash
Bloom Bash embraced the more playful and energetic side of Art Alive 2026, transforming The San Diego Museum of Art into a vibrant late night celebration inspired by the nightlife and theatrical spirit of Belle Époque Paris. The creative direction for the evening pulled from the atmosphere of Parisian cabarets, vintage nightlife, and the artistic world surrounding Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, creating an environment that felt immersive, energetic, and entirely transportive. I wanted the event to feel layered with movement, music, performance, and moments of discovery throughout the galleries so guests constantly felt immersed in the excitement and spectacle of the night. Working alongside PEP Creative once again helped bring many of the large scale visual and experiential elements to life, transforming the Museum into a dramatic environment filled with immersive lighting, installations, and theatrical design moments. Formdecor created lounge environments throughout the evening that added richness, texture, and intimate gathering spaces within the energy of the event.
One of the most exciting parts of Bloom Bash was seeing 37 local restaurants come together throughout the Museum to create an incredible culinary experience for guests. Each space offered something different, allowing attendees to explore an amazing range of flavors, presentations, and concepts while moving through the event. Multiple bar experiences throughout the evening served curated wines, specialty cocktails, and spirited pours that added to the celebratory atmosphere and kept the energy flowing all night long. Entertainment played a huge role in shaping the experience, with performances woven throughout the Museum to continuously surprise and dazzle guests during the evening. Twisted Orbit Circus brought theatrical cabaret inspired performances into the plaza, while Aerial Revolution filled the evening with breathtaking aerial acts that transformed the Museum into a true spectacle of movement, energy, and immersive entertainment.
