Welcome to the Rainbow Retreat…A colorful place that is so special in my second home Palm Springs. When we were planning our spring trip to PS I knew I wanted to stay in a house this time around. The seclusion and relaxation a private home offers cannot be beat, but I knew it also had to fit my vibe. I didn’t have to look any further than this quaint colorful retreat aptly named Rainbow. Originally built in 1956, it has all the classic characteristics of my favorite midcentury homes….clean lines, slanted ceilings, brickwork, and swaths of ample light. The owners have stayed true to the era but pushed it into full color glam mode which makes it lighthearted and just a bit extra…ok a lot extra. Each room has its own color scheme and personality. The kitchen was a personal favorite with the playful bright orange appliances and matching geo tile. And the main bedroom was cozy yet sexy with its provocative pink details and many lush touches. The outdoor spaces are a thoughtful entry to the indoor maximalist masterpiece with simple gravel pathways but with an abundance of colorful plants and florals and some pops of color on the gates. Its very possible to feel so comfortable and also so inspired at the same time. I called my friend and master photographer Everette (Jevpic) to shoot in this magical home space and these photos are such a mid-mod vibe! You too can stay in this very special space in my favorite desert oasis. My friends over at Rainbow Retreat are waiting for your call.
