This is likely my last blog post of 2021, and at the end of any year I find myself reflecting on the past 12 months. When 2021 started, I feel like I was pretty sure the pandemic will be over pretty early on, but we are still in it. Even so, the past year has been exponentially busier than 2020. I was recently looking at the amount of blog posts I created in 2020 vs 2021 and was somewhat sad to see I was only able to create about half the amount this year vs last year. Now that means that much of my busier work and personal life returned to a bit more normal this year, which is ultimately a good thing, but I find myself a little nostalgic for some of the creative freedom I felt in 2020 despite all of the frustrating things that year also held. I think the biggest thing I am learning is to step back and try and get positivity out of every season of life. Where there is loss, try and bring joy…where there is absence, try and fill it with a new energy. I am planning in going into 2022 with that same outlook. I don’t know what the year will hold, but I do know that I will continue to put my best foot forward. I will continue scouring the land for amazing art and inspiration and I will put my time and energy into those relationships that bring the most joy and creative energy into my life.
Now this doesn’t specifically have anything to do with the subject matter of this blog post imagery, but with each new shoot and new post I feel so grateful for the amazing creative friends in my life who understand me and help me execute my wacky inspiration for my art and fashion fusion. Angela of Create with Gusto is one of those people and this shoot has some of her serious wide-lens witchery going on. All this to say, life is too short to dwell on the negativity and worry about how you are being perceived. Put on that over the top striped outfit and dance around with giant striped heads. Do what brings you joy and find joy in others. Here’s to 2022!
